A Nine Beat Stretch

Five days of perfect weather.

No parenting duties.

Months of training. (No. Really.)

Lodging provided by Mayberry Sherpa Service.

Ride logistics provided by Bike Virginia.

And now I'm digging through more than 15,000 digital images, as well as 7+ hours of video footage, getting down to the very best of my stuff...A journey of a thousand edits starts with a mouse click.

I'm keeping my sanity with iTunes- switching back & forth between a live recording of the Gorillaz performing the entire Demon Days album, and Leif Inge's 9 Beet Stretch.

Leif took Beethoven's Ninth Symphony & stretched it out to 24 hours. Simply phenomenal...And now you can listen to it anytime of day thanks to the webcast. Check it out.

If Your a Bike Nerd & You Know It...

Go ahead, drool over this tandem picture...

I had the best time hanging out with Mike, Dian & their brood of budding cyclists. So while I was editing my shots from Bike Virginia, I was really stoked to come across the little gem above.

I used to get really excited at the sight of Specialized tri-spoke wheels or magazine ads of Rebecca Twig holding a nude Merlin Titanium frame...But now that I'm a (cycling) father, I get all stoked over...tandems.

Sad, but true...So long, Rebecca Twig...

Hard at Work

The first day of Bike Virginia, and I'm hard at work. Count 'em, there are three cameras on the bike, one on my helmet, and a camcorder in my Camelbak.

All of the visible cameras are waterproof, and, to some extent, shock-resistant. There's a GoPro HeroCam3 mounted to the down tube near the bottom bracket, a Pentax Optio W30 mounted near the headset, a Pentax Optio W10 looking back over the rear wheel, and an Oregon Scientific All Terrain Camera 2000 on my helmet.

The HeroCam and Optios are generally set up for interval photography, where a series a pictures are taken at set intervals- say, 1 picture taken every 5 seconds until the memory card is full or the battery dies. I also mount wide angle adapters onto the HeroCam & Pentaxes for a more dramatic perspective.
